On Saturday 15 February Cinéma Arabe Filmclub presents Salata Baladi, a unique Egyptian family portrait. Against the background of the troubled twentieth century, filmmaker Nadia Kamel shows how the often tense political dynamics in the region are counterbalanced by unexpected family ties. ‘In my family, religions and cultures get married when they appear to be divorcing in the global arena.’ A disarming documentary, especially so in light of current developments in Egypt.
